1. Build an "anything factory"

Living in New Zealand, product availability can be somewhat limited. We aim to use digital fabrication to improve local access to the goods we need.

2. Reduce the global manufacturing carbon footprint

Currently, many goods we buy are mined in Australia, manufactured in China, sold in the USA and then shipped back to the end user in New Zealand.

This is too many steps!

3. Create fantastic products

By using digital fabrication, we can make products that are custom to your needs and do so more quickly than buying them overseas.

4. Experiment, fail, learn, teach.

We envisage there will be no shortage of blood, sweat and tears in our journey. Along the way, we'll share what we've learned so others can avoid our mistakes!

5. Have fun and give back

Ultimately, we aim to have fun in this adventure and give back to the community.

We firmly believe that technology is the key to improving the way we live and do business in our region.

Why are you called Bitrate?!

In short, I believe that most of the challenges we'll face in the near future are essentially about increasing "bitrate".

In computing, bitrate measures how much data can flow through a system in a given time. It's the pulse of digital communication - the speed at which information moves from one point to another.

Traditionally you may associate the term bitrate with audio and video. But I believe bitrate is more than that. It's a concept that captures the essence of technological progress in all areas of life.
